Self-concept and emotional intelligence of female students of single-sex and co-educational colleges

The present study is an attempt to assess and compare the self-concept and emotional intelligence of female students of single sex and co-educational colleges.The sample comprised of 200 female students of which 100 were from single sex colleges and 100 from co-educational colleges of north Karnataka. It was conjectured that there would be no significant difference in the self-concept and emotional intelligence of female students studying in single sex and co-educational colleges. Self- concept scale and emotional intelligence scale were administered to collect the data. The obtained data were analysed using t-test. The results indicate that the female students of single sex colleges had a significantly higher positive self -concept and emotional intelligence as compared to the female students of co-educational colleges.
