Moral reasoning at concrete operational stage in relation to home environment

Abstract

The present study aims to investigate the effect of home environment on the moral reasoning of children at concrete operational stage of cognitive development. Sample included 183 students of 6 to 11yrs. age from various schools of  Rohtak. For obtaining the data, ‘Family Relationship Inventory’ and ‘Standardized moral dilemmas' adopted by the investigators themselves were used. The findings of the study suggest that parental acceptance and parental concentration have positive and significant correlation with the development of moral reasoning of children where as parental avoidance was found to be inversely correlated with the development of moral reasoning of children at concrete operational stage of cognitive development.
